For some reason, female country singers in cowboy hats haven't been flooding the industry lately. But when If The Jukebox Took Teardrops zoomed up the video charts, I was mesmerized by the raw energy that is Danni Leigh.

This Virginia native's had three albums released so far - 29 Nights, A Shot Of Whiskey & A Prayer, and Divide And Conquer. She co-writes a good chunk of her material, and these tunes are regularly my favourites of the bunch.

People have compared Danni's singing to Dwight Yoakam and Merle Haggard. When it comes to making vocal comparisons, I'd rather the individual singer proved his or her own worth, and Danni has absolutely no problem doing that, with each successive album. But with respect to the Hag and Dwight, they just never made a cowboy hat look that good.
