I went away to war
They told me it was a good thing
That I would do right by them
But no one ever wants war
It shouldn't be about land and distance
Bodies of water and fuel
Wars should toll
Between two
The breadth between bodies
Not anxiety of separation
But loss of breath
From slightest touch
And near misses resolved
Water traded to sacrifice our soul
To fuel the flame from point and destination
This war I fight
Is a fire with both
Though I'm compelled to go
Conscripted heart
I ever start each breath
With one mirror
With you and I
Prisoner on either side
To each other
But neither the planes of our fathers
Or the lives they left behind
Nor all the time lost between touch
Will ever end
Our battle in this world
