Loren: That's not my name! Do I hafta remind you? I ain't no Italian.
Michael: Sorry, man. Where's Robin?
Loren: She's out back chattin' with the rest of the girls. I could get her, if you want.
Michael: Yeah, man. Thanks a lot.
Loren went in the back to find Robin. It appeared that she was having a very important conversation with Melissa and Cindy about what happened to Danielle.
Loren came back with Robin in his arms, telling her that we had something for her to do. I motioned for Loren to take Danielle out of the room, because I thought that she might not agree with what I was about to say.
Robin: What's so important, Mikey?
Michael: We need you to help Danny get some new stuff to live with. Her home was trashed by her ex-boyfriend. All we want you to do is take her out shopping.
Robin: No problem, Mikey, that's one of my best hobbies.
Michael: The stores open around ten tomorrow. You've got a lot of shopping to do so take her out early. I'll give you the cash, but stop calling me Mikey!
They drove off the next day in the Porscia 944, heading downtown to Rodeo Drive. I expected nothing less. I was just wondering to myself if I had given Robin enough money. Knowing her, she'd probably spend it all in one place.
Finally arriving at the world's greatest shopping area, Robin and Danielle hopped out of the car. The first store they went into was full of lingerie.
Danielle: So, I hear you're getting married soon.
Robin: Yeah. I feel like the luckiest woman on earth. He's the greatest.
Danielle: What day is it set for?
Robin: July 4th - Independence Day. He wouldn't have it on any other day. Such a proud American. But we both are. Where're you from?
Danielle: Michigan. I moved here a couple of years ago, 'cause my dad worked with the government.
Robin: Undercover?
Danielle: No. Just a computer operator. They needed some good computer professionals so they called on my dad.
Robin: Cool. What happened to your parents?
Danielle: They died walking down an alley downtown. A couple of guys shot them at point blank range. Ever see Batman? Same thing.
Robin: Pretty rough. Ever try wearing this stuff?
She held up a two-piece, black satin teddy.
Danielle: Yeah, right. I wouldn't have enough money to go buying stuff like that.
Robin: Well, now you do. Loren and Mikey are pretty rich. Nothin's too expensive for 'em.
Danielle: Yeah, I freaked when I saw the house I was in. How'd you guys afford such a big house?
Robin: Sorry, Danny. Can't get into details. I'd rather that Mikey told you instead of me. Oh yeah, he just hates it when people call him that. You should try it sometime.
Danielle: So what's up with Mikey?
Robin was afraid to answer at first, because she thought that she'd get all emotional. It was pretty bad for her when she heard about it. She often cries, whenever she talks about it.
Robin: Well, you see, Mikey always thought of himself as a hot shot big-leaguer, because he had such a powerful family. But then he turned away from everyone, when the Accident happened. He didn't talk to no one for a couple of months. I don't know if he's fully recovered, but it looks like he's trying.
Danielle: What is this accident?
Robin: Mikey lost his family in the Accident. I'd rather not go into it now.
Danielle: I understand. I know how it feels to lose someone... Is he going out with anyone?
Robin: No. He's really kept to himself, not wanting to get involved. Since he's the leader of the Circle, he doesn't have time for a girl.
Danielle: Oh...I've heard of this Circle at school. Some of my friends have been saying that they're out to find justice in L.A. Is it true?
Robin: Yeah. Everyone wants peace. But they're just trying to get rid of all this bullshit with the punks, skinheads, and bangers.
Danny didn't ask her anything else about the Circle. They kept on shopping and shopping. Robin was having a ball.
It started to rain, so they had to come home early. It looked like Robin bought a couple of stores, with all the bags she told Loren to bring in. I showed Danny to her room, then gave her a tour of the house.
