Disco
Disco sucked, but no late seventies recap would be complete without it. Everybody hates it now (or should) but it was by far the most popular music of the time and is what's remembered most of the era. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, bub.

Village People The Village People were the most important thing that happened to gay fashion, especially the "biker". Before them, gays just dressed like straight guys, but better. Gays really took to the overly-studded exaggerated biker look. Rob Halford of Judas Priest (who is gay) adopted this look, and millions of metalheads (who did not know he was gay) followed his lead. So, '80s headbangers were emulating gays without even knowing it.

The Bee-Gees are important because Ozzy Osbourne did a cover of "Stayin' Alive" for some "don't drink and drive" video in the '80s. "I am disco man!"

KC and the Sunshine Band

KC and the Sunshine band were just too happy. This is why I am a member of the Anti-Disco Movement (A.D.M. for short). Nobody that lives on the same planet as Eminem should be that happy.

In the 1870s, the word "gay" meant something totally different, I hear.
