Anderson University def. Greenville (3-0)
30-25, 30-22, 30-17
(9/5/03 at Rose-Hulman, Terre Haute, IN)

In the second match of the night, Greenville took on Anderson University. Anderson took an early lead, but could never push it to more than a 3 point advantage until they ran off 7 consecutive points to make the score 23-16. They would extend the lead to 25-18 before Greenville mounted a late charge. Back-to-back kills by Megan Vandiver and Sarah Swanson cut the lead all the way down to 25-21, but G.C. would get no closer as they dropped the opening game 30-25.

In game two, Anderson jumped to an early 10-4 lead, but solid front-line play from Kelly Kepley (2 kills) and Julie Kaufmann (4 kills, 1 block) brought the score back to 12-11, however Anderson would again make a run to put the score at 18-13. Greenville answered again as Kepley would put one away to cut the lead back to two at 19-17. G.C. had no answer for Rachel Fleck as she pounded out 8 kills in the game as Anderson pulled away late to the 30-22 win. Greenville came out strong in the third game taking early leads of 5-3 and 10-7. Anderson tied the game at 10 and later at 13 before Greenville began struggling - making a number of costly serve receive errors. Anderson took full advantage of the Greenville mistakes by reeling off 17 of the final 21 points in the set to win the match 30-17.

Anderson was relentless on defense as Greenville was unable to put many balls away. "They got their hands on a lot of balls and seemed to win all of the long rallies," commented coach Tom Ackerman. "In the first match against College of Pharmacy we played exceptionally well. We hung right with Anderson most of the first two games, but made too many mistakes late that cost us the match."  Anderson would eventually finish the weekend with a 4-0 record.
