Lincoln Christian def. Greenville (3-1)
4-15, 15-4, 10-15, 4-15
(10/03/00 at Lincoln, IL)

October 3rd - After spending a rough two weeks at home, Greenville went back on the road on Tuesday, but the results were much of the same as they dropped a four set match to Lincoln Christian College. The loss was Greenville's fifth in six games and dropped their record to 5-11 on the year.

The Lady Panthers seemed out of sync in game one as they fell behind 0-3 before rallying to tie the score at 3 apiece. Following a Lincoln sideout, Greenville struggled mightily in their serve receiving as Lincoln ran off 9 straight points en route to a 4-15 victory.

Game two was nearly opposite of the first set as Greenville jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead behind the strong serving of Meredith McDaniels. McDaniels served three aces in the early part of the set and Sarah Swanson pounded out 5 kills in only 8 attempts in the game as Greenville rolled to the 15-4 win. Megan Vandiver provided a big spark on defense as she tallied one solo block and a pair of block assists in the game.

Game three found Greenville back in the hole as Lincoln rallied to score the first 10 points of the game. After a pair of timeouts, the Lady Panthers slowly crawled back into the game taking advantage of numerous LCC errors. Greenville brought the score all the way back to 8-11, but could not finish the comeback effort, dropping the set 10-15. Game four was much like the first game as the Lady Panthers never were able to get any offense going as they dropped the final frame 4-15.

Sarah Swanson had a very effective night both offensively and defensively. "Sarah handled the bulk of our serve receive tonight and she had a very solid night on offense as well," remarked Coach Rick McPeak. Swanson finished with 10 kills (.250 hitting percentage) and added 16 digs on the defensive side. Megan Vandiver had a very solid blocking night for Greenville finishing with 2 solo blocks and 3 block assists. G.C. was never able to find an offensive rhythm as they finished the night with a hitting percentage of only .053. G.C. will look to get back into the win column on Thursday when they travel to MacMurray.
