September 23rd - Greenville returned to the win column quickly on Saturday as they rolled through Harris Stowe in just over an hour 15-4, 15-2, 15-9. After losing five of six matches last week, the Lady Panthers are 2-1 on their current 6-game homestand, thanks to a big victory Saturday afternoon.

"It's always important when the other team is off their game that we don't allow our level to drop as well," commented Coach Rick McPeak. "They really struggled today, and we kept our intensity and never let them get into the match. We showed some really good concentration this afternoon."

There was little doubt from the beginning as to what the outcome would be. After leading only 6-4, Greenville ran through the first game 15-4. Games two and three were much of the same as Harris Stowe never threatened the leadand Greenville never allowed them to put any kind of offensive run together. G.C. had a very balanced offensive attack led by outside hitter Michea McKay's 14 kills and .385 hitting percentage. Julia Wheeler had 7 kills on just 12 attempts, while Heather Caddell, Kristi Harms, and Val Watson each had 4 kills.

"Our serve receive was really strong today and we were able to put the ball wherever we wanted to almost all afternoon," added McPeak. "Val Watson really came up huge today in her first start since early in the year. She had 4 kills on only 5 attempts, and added a solo block as well." As a team, Greenville hit .337 and commited only 2 serve receive errors in the three games.

Greenville will continue their 6-game homestand on Tuesday when they host Illinois College at 7:00.
