Raising A Puppy

Don't smell crotches, don't eat plants.
Don't steal food or underpants.
Don't eat my socks, don't grab my hair....
Don't rip the stuffing from that chair.
Don't eat those peas, don't touch that bush.
Don't chew my shoes, what is this mush?!
Eat your cookies, drink your drink
Outta the toilet! Outta the sink!
Away from the litter box, it's for the cat!
(and must you kiss me after that?)
Raising a puppy is not for the lazy.
Those rugrats are funny but also quite crazy.
Don't despair though the toil and the strife,
'Cause after three years you'll back your life!
So lets go for walkies, so you can do your
"thing",
And maybe I'll get back my good diamond
ring!

Cats Are Wonderful Friends

Gentle eyes that see so much, paws that
have the quiet touch. Purrs to signal "all is
well" and show more love than words could
tell. Graceful movements touched with pride,
a calming presence by our side... A friendship
that takes time to grow... Small wonder why
we love them so.

A Dog's Best Friend

O Lord, don't let me once forget, how I love
my trusty pet. Help me learn to disregard
canine craters in my yard. Show me how to
be a buddy even when soffa's muddy. Don't
allow my pooch to munch postal carriers for
lunch. Shield my steps around the doo.
Train me not to curse and scowl when it's
puppy's night to hawl. Grant I shan't awake in
fear with a cold nose in my ear. Give me
patience without end. Help me be "A Dog's
Best Friend"

Cat Kisses

Sandpaper kisses on a cheek
or a chin - that is the way
for a day to begin!
And a purr. I have an alarm
clock that's covered in fur!

Dog's Know

Dogs know, if men do not, that dogs and men
are close, perhaps too much sometimes, and
they do not prattle of their deep wisdom, but
it's the truth and what they have to know.
Truth and what they give. Even if they do not
wish, they must, and follow at a heel, and
haunt a doorstep, and cry when we are gone,
or roll in the dust. To entertain us, yielding up
a paw into a hand. They whine because the
throat cannot articulate, and even plead for
man's forgiving on a anguished note, when
the legs cannot move fast enough, or faults
of clumsiness and frolic seem to raise human
wrath. O, we are given much by these little
beasts who aggravate our days with their
absurdities and ignorance, their jealous
faithfulness, their eyes that tell as if man were
stripped to the bone, had nothing more, and
found bare. He still would find his dog beside
him there, to give him comfort, and to tell him
then, how good and splendid is the race of
men. Perhaps the only error and the lie,
Dog's Tell To Men.

Do You Know Me?

Why do you look at me in that forlorn way?
Are you cold and hungry in this winter's day?
Why do you gaze with tears in your clear
green eyes, they are so translucent under the
matching skies. You look so familiar, like
someone I know, but sadly, last year, he had
to go. He burrowed deep into my heart, made
me cry when we had to part. He invaded my
home, when he had no right, yet I had to give
in to those eyes so bright. They were like
yours, a pearly green, with the deepest aura
that I've seen. He did things wrong but I didn't
mind, the will to throw him out. I couldn't find,
he wasn't perfect, and I liked him for that, and
I tried to correct him as we sat. But he was so
stubborn, so determined and willed, I dearly
missed his encouragement when he was
killed. Are you his spirit, here to haunt me
again? And die once more and cause me
pain? Well, if you know me? And the night we
met, he too,was ragged and thin, miserable
and abused near the garbage bin. If you think
I would adopt and care for you, and then rear
you up faithful and true, then only to lose
another life once again, your're right, so don't
just stand there, come on in!

Your Dog

He is your friend, your partner, your defender,
your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last
beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be
worthy of such devotion.

Two Cats

Two cats one up a tree one under the tree.
The cat up a tree is he, The cat under the
tree is she. The tree is witch elm, just
inceidentally. He takes no notice of she, she
takes no notice of he. He stares at the woolly
clouds passing, she stares at the tree.
There's been a lot written about cats, by Old
Possum, Yeats and company, But not Alfred
de Musset or Lord Tennyson or Poe or
anybody wrote about one cat under, and
one cat up a tree. God knows why this should
be left for me except I like cats as cats be.
Especially one cat up and one cat under a
which elm tree.

Extra Baggage

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
all nicely tucked in my warm new bed.I'd like
to open my baggage. There is so much to
carry. So much to regret.Hmm.... Yes, there
it is, right on the top. Let's unpack loneliness,
heartache and loss, and there by my leash
hides fear and shame. As I look on these
things I tried so hard to leave. I still have to
unpack my baggage called pain. I loved
them, the others, the ones who left me,
but I wasn't good enough for they didn't want
me. Will you add to my baggage? Or will you
just look at things and take me right back? Do
you have time to help me unpack? To put
away my baggage to never repack? I pray
that you do. I'm so tired you see, but I do
come with baggage. Will you stll want
me?
