Free ISPs in US
Daniele Laruelle:
Has anyone got any tips on free ISPs in the US (around Albuquerque/Santa Fe/Jemez) ??? I discovered I could get to my regular Pop3 mail server to collect my mail in the normal way (Eudora) - except *that* will *not* work with AOL - and I do hate those Web servers, doing everything online and all that.

Naomi Linzer:
You might go to a branch of the public library with free internet access and log on to mailstart.com to collect your mail from any ISP except AOL or if your server has a web site with mail box access you may go there too.

MsRyter:
Hi! I posted a question about free ISPs on comp.sys.mac.apps a few days ago. Both freei.net & freewwweb.com have merged with PC-only ISPs (netzero & Juno). I was looking for alternatives. Some people recommended Excite's Freelane (freelane.excite.com), which is reliable, has a lot of local access numbers & is very easy to set up. However, I found the ad banner bar very annoying. It's about one inch by four inches and has a lot of animated ads. If you can overlook that, then I'd recommend Freelane. Other people have recommended www.nocharge.com, which is a service primarily on the West Coast (Oregon, Washington, Calif) and New York. Other sites mentioned include altavista, bluelight (from the K-mart people!) and Lycos. I haven't had time to try any of these yet.

Good luck! I'd love to hear about any other free ISPs.
