Am I the only one who can't undestand half the stuff on
the mcedit group?
I don't understand about two-thirds of it, but I persist in the hope that
something will sink in.
Might I insert a plea against ignorance at this point? If you don't understand
something, ask! I at least promise not to mock you publicly, though me and
your friends will be getting together this weekend for our weekly "mock
John and David behind their backs" session*. Put just a tad less facetiously,
we eminences-increasingly-grises are generally more than happy to share our
knowledge, but we can't do it if you don't ask. So ask!
I second Geoff's message. Those of us who have been around Macs for a while
were all once in the position of being newbies, and we know how frustrating
it can be. If someone would have told me 10 years ago that I'd now be in the
position of acting as de facto backup to our IT person when something Mac
goes wrong, I would have laughed in your face. (But there's still plenty I
don't know.)
I highly recommend the immersion-over-your-head method of learning -- that 10% that sinks in is usually a valuable 10%. :-)
Please do take the time to ask your questions, even the "stupid" ones, and we'll do the best we can to answer them or direct you to someone who can. That is, after all, what this list is for.
