The most innocent-seeming passages can harbor nonsense, inanities, and twists of logic. Be ever vigilant. A slipshod eye or a lazy ear may miss tautologies like the following, which appeared in a recent manuscript.
"A crossbar and an extra panel make it difficult to easily access the interior slots and bays."
If it's hard to access them easily, one might ask, is it easy to access them with difficulty? Don't go there. That way lies madness, lost weekends, and retinal detachment. Just lop off "easily" and be done with it. Go to the movies. Catch up with The New Yorker. Take a nap with the dog.
