YMCA Camping

index

Campouts are a high point of our Adventure Guide program and are our best-attended events. Every member may enjoy three campouts a year -- fall, winter, spring.

Our Congress schedules the campouts, and each settlement works to make the events FUN! We camp at YMCA facilities in nearby regions (recent camps are listed below). We do not"rough it". Meals are served family-style in a mess hall; the food is plentiful and good (it is not gourmet).

All the camps we use provide heated cabins with bunk beds. The physical facilities vary by camp. Some camps have plumbing in the cabins, and others have separate lavatory facilities. All have running water and showers (hot water is generally available, but don't bet your happiness on it). Depending on the season and the particular camp, activities provided by the camp might include hiking, archery, fishing, boating, horseback riding (age limits vary and are subject to change), BB guns or rifle range, climbing tower, crafts, hay-ride, sledding, and a campfire.
