Geddy kicks ass. He's just the best bassist on the planet.
He was born on July 29, 1953. His real name is Gary Lee Weinrib. Geddy comes from his grandmother's pronunciation of Gary.
Geddy was not an original member of Rush. He joined as a rhythm guitarist and later started playing the cooler parts and became the bassist. He got the singing job because no one else wanted to touch it. Geddy has won loads of awards. He's been Bass Player's Bassist of the Year six times and has been voted the best rock bassist an amazing twelve times
Geddy loves sports. His favorite sport is baseball and I read in an interview (in amazingly, Spin)that he would like to own a minor league team. He also likes tennis, hockey, and running. (Though anyone who derives enjoyment from running needs to be committed to the nearest mental institution)
All the members of Rush lead very domestic lives. His family is his wife, Nancy and his children, his son, Julian, and his daughter, Kyla.
I am an advid bassist and Geddy has been my creative idol for years, his impact on my life is huge, he was the reason I picked up a bass in the first place. I love my bass, I recently got the (overpriced) Geddy Lee Jazz bass from Fender and I must say that it ROCKS!
What exactly Geddy has done over the years: vocals, bass guitar, classical guitar, mini moog, bass pedal synthesizer, Oberheim Polyphonic, synthesizers, OB-1, OB-X |
