John has got to be one of the most influential writes of modern time. His book maps out
for us what it takes to become a leader. He tells us that we can all have those leadership
qualities that we admire in our heroes. For once, i think we should all try to put our best
foot forward and become our own leader. It will take some sacrifice and hard work, but i
think we will find it quite rewarding in the end.

I first got this book just because of the reviews on Amazon.com. The reviews are not wrong
or off in any way, this is a great book and life manual!
While waiting during Jury duty selections I was able to read the entire book (you got to love it) and it was hard to put down (until the Judge said so). Many other potential Jurors saw the book and asked about it and where ready to get one themselves after I told them a few of the things inside!
I write training and development manuals/courses for a major wholesale warehouse club and I used quite a few of the practices mentioned in a recent supervisor training manual and indicated this is a 'recommended reading'. In fact I mentioned several pages and chapters they were to refer to while reading the manual.
If you wish to be not only a better manager or supervisor but a more empowering person in general you must get this book. It is one of the most easy to read books around (visually appealing and the text is not 'tight' or 'crowded') and the concepts are also easy to understand and put into practice right away!
Bottom line: purchase this book. The price is insignificant (and the price is really
not that high on Amazon) compared to the skills you will acquire (which will
probably lead to a higher position anyways!).

For anyone who works with groups of people (and especially youth) you will find this book to be a great addition to your library. I especially enjoyed the worksheets at the end of each chapter as they were tangible ways of putting theory into practice.
This book is very easy to read, but as with most good books in this category, take notes or be willing to re-read chapters as there is almost too much good information. Most books offer nuggets--this one is a serious gold rush.
The leadership team I work with spent two weeks on Chapter 3 (A person of influence has Faith in People). I thought this was one of the best chapters in any of Maxwell's books and this will become a permanent part of our leadership program.
A great gift for graduating college students or folks newly elected to positions of
leadership.

I bought this book about 3 weeks ago. Once I started reading this book, I know I can't
stop reading it until I reach the final page.
In this book, John taught me on how to relate myself to others effectively. It is like I am going through a self-discovery session on some very basic elements in human relations.
In this book John has challenged us on how to achieve Pareto Optimality in forming human relationship with one another. He doesn't leave us just as that. He has underlined the principles for all of us to refer to as at when the situation requires us to do so.
John's principles must be put into practice as the benefits are enormous not only to the practitioners but the recipients as well. I am convinced regardless of what field a person is in, this book will be a useful guidance.
