A pretty young boy who is transformed into a girl when he comes in contact with white roses. It is at seventeen years old when the Tenshi Idenshi, the angel gene, becomes active, and this is what makes Sei become a woman. This angel gene transforms him into the angel White Maria. However, this magic is reversed when he is kissed by Kyoya. Hired men from the United States chase him on behalf of Malloy because he wants to meet the White Maria, whom he wishes to eliminate in his quest to start a new world. This is why Sei learns how to use guns as well as become comfortable with his female shape. He is a sad character who attempts suicide because Kyoya is mean to him. A quiet, shy young boy, he is often melancholic and interiorizes his emotions, even his tormenting love for Kyoya. He reminds me of Tsubasa from Zoku Cutlass, only that Sei is not as hip as Tsubasa, and does not smoke.

 
The central member of N'est ce Pas, a male modelling unit working undercover. N'est ce Pas consider themselves the faithful protectors of the White Maria, calling themselves Guardians. The companion to Sei, he also possesses the Tenshi Idenshi. Only, his angel gene does not transform him into a woman, but grants him the ability to transform White Maria back to her male self. He is brash, hot, and conceited. He is adept with guns and protects Sei. He has feelings for Sei, but he doesn't know how to express them correctly and instead acts mean and cruel. This character could be a hidden twin to Sui from Zeus. He acts in the same manner, and conceals his desire for Sei. Like Sui to Kira, he comes to his rescue and endangers his life in order to aid him. However wonderful he is, I am still not too attracted to him, since he is not too original. It is mostly when he begins to remember the previous Maria he failed to protect, a woman he loved, that he is the most interesting.

 
Also a member of N'est ce Pas, he's the level-headed one and acts as the voice of reason. Also possessing the angel gene, he is able to speak and control birds. Although beautiful like a lady, Kishou does not transform into a woman nor does his kiss return White Maria to his male self. Every time Kyoya acts cruelly towards Sei, he is upset because they both remember the previous White Maria, whom they failed to protect, and is fearful that Kyoya will become obsessed with the past. Little does he know that Sei is very much in love with Kyoya, so he needs not worry. He always dresses with feathery jackets and boas, and his weapon is his command of ravens. A bit cool, he wraps his arms around Kyoya often and is sensuous, although he wishes to see Sei and Kyoya together. His face and long, crystalline hair remind me of Teteiyusu from Seimaden.

The third member of N'est ce Pas. He is the only one without an angel gene. Shun, who is a mastermind with computers and technology, is easy-going and kind. He is very close to Kishou and takes an immediate liking to Sei. He wishes to see Sei happy, so he often warns Kyoya to treat him nicely. His weapon is a large tommy-gun, but he's really much more of comedy relief than fighter. This character is a new face in the cast of You Higuri's characters; he doesn't seem to resemble anyone she's ever drawn before. Sadly, his personality and his actions in the team keep him in the background and make him little interesting.

 
The nemesis of the story, located in the United States, he is obsessed with the angel gene and finding the secret behind the hand and the many incubated babies found by archaeologists in the Gobi desert in Mongolia. Like Sei, he also becomes a woman by means of roses, also becomes a Maria. He is the one behind the hired men who are following Sei. He is a sensual, callous person. As a woman he likes to tantalize people with his body. He is in love with his right-hand man, Gilbert, but he is cruel and unable to demonstrate real love. As the manga comes to its conclusion, he dies after refusing Sei's help, unable to see his dream new world come to fruition.

An Anglo-Saxon, most likely from the United States, he is Malloy's right-hand man and he is deeply in love with him. He has a scar on his left eye, and is often called Gil. He is the leader of the hired men and is sent to Japan to capture the White Maria. He is a dedicated, stoic man who stops at nothing to carry out Malloy's wishes. His hired men's English, however, is quite a source of mirth at times: "lay your gun down or he'll be died."
