___________
Characters I
Rauresu, Hilda, Rodrique

Rauresu
Good looking,
young, powerful, charming, cruel, vicious. All of these describe this
man, whose name can be taken as Lawless. He is the main
character, antagonist to Rodrique. In case you've never seen him, has
long, dark hair, and thin eyes and lips. Two dragon wings adorn his
head and are the only visual sign of his wicked nature. He is a wizard
of high esteem and his preferred spell is breaking his enemy in pieces
by an inside force. Rauresu, dark warrior and wizard antihero, imposes
a fine rupture to many people's peaceful life with his mass murders,
terrorizing, and supreme evil power. Like any other evil wizard with
demonic appearance, he wants to conquer the land for himself, or
simply destroy it. He never lets anyone get in his way, murdering
those who try, but he is met with one weakness: Hilda. Rauresu at
first just uses her, like he does with other women and men who have
been his lovers, but soon realizes against his own will, that he
really feels for her. He finds himself acting strangely, due to her
impact upon him. Still, he is the antihero, and is not deviated from
his battle with his destined enemy Rodrique. But, Rauresu is not just
a Dark Lord, he is a troubled man. Often in the manga he is found
sitting, meditating, as if he suffered inside. He has a noted
moodiness and the reader can see in his eyes that his soul suffers
just like Rodrique's. Even though he does evil acts, one cannot help
but feel for him and cheer for him. After he kills Zaadei's merging
with Titan, he goes onto a limbo of nothingness, but Hilda's love
rescues him. He returns to her side, and finds true
happiness.

Hilda
Smart, lovely,
and delicate, Hilda is the main female character. She has pretty,
long, yellow hair and child like features. When the manga begins, she
is a dancer in a performing music group that plays at local bars. She
is loved by many because she is kind, loyal, and has a pure heart, but
her pretty eyes are often clouded with tears and pain. She cannot
comprehend why she is attracted to such an evil man like Rauresu,
specially since Rodrique, whom she knew since childhood, loves her
dearly. She finds that she likes both men, but still her heart cries
out for the Demon Lord. After meeting Rauresu, Hilda discovers that
she is the reincarnation of Erise, Rauresu's past wife. Her life has
been turned into a wild drama surrounded by death, deception, and
sorrow. Unaware of it, inside her body she carries the Azel no
Tsurugi, a powerful sword that erupts from her when she is in
danger, and is horribly dangerous to Rauresu. Rodrique takes the
weapon when it escapes her body and uses it. He does not return it to
her, because of the destined symbiosis it gives him. Hilda looses
Sherill, whom she treats as a sister, as well as her security to the
hands of the man whom she finds herself attracted to, but still she
refuses to hate Rauresu, even when she feels jealous of his lingering
love for Erise. She wishes she could stop the world from suffering
more injustices, but finds that she cannot alter the fated events. She
can only hope Rauresu stops his evil for her sake, but this seems a
far fetched dream to her at times. However, Hilda harbors great love
for Rauresu, even if he calls her Erise at times. This hurts her
deeply, but she finds true happiness when, in the final battle,
Rauresu tells her he will return to her side, and calls her Hilda. "He
called me Hilda," she says between tears. After the battle, she waits
for Rauresu, who promised to return, until he finally returns to her
side.
___________
Rodrique
Marked with the
magical seal of Azel, at first, Rodrique is Rauresu's biggest enemy.
He is powerful, beautiful, sweet, kind, and very heroic. Rauresu seems
to respect him and treats him kindly, odd enough. But, Rodrique
presents him with the biggest challenge: he loves Hilda as much as him
and she is torn between the two. Like Rauresu, Rod (how most people
call him) is melancholic and sad. His clear eyes reveal deep sorrow,
specially since he loves Hilda and knows she secretly loves Rauresu.
The mark on his forehead, the sign of Kaimei, grants him special
powers and when it becomes united with the sword Hilda carries inside
her body, his mind becomes twisted. As Azel's servant, his power
increases ten times more, but his soul becomes darker. In those times,
he becomes as wicked as Rauresu. Still, Rod is a determined, skilled,
and imposing leader who is always ready to help the people who believe
in him. The reader at times cannot help but feel sorry for him,
because he is torn viciously by his emotions. He inevitably faces
Rauresu, but loses to him, because Hilda truly loves Rauresu. When
Kaaron, Rauresu, and Zaadei attack his village, he stands up tp defend
his people. No longer is he angry at Rauresu for killing Kukuri, his
best friend, nor is he possessed by the inner power of Kaimei or
Maruka -- two evil spirits that command him and are later killed by
Kaaron. He is not a torn character, however, and goes on to have a
nice life without her, in the companionship of
Asbal.
