Notes

Rauresu and Zadei battle, Zadei wishing to take Rauresu's power in order to kill him, and revive his beloved angel.

Hilda tries to save Rauresu by bringing him the wondrous sword. She ends up being hurdled and almost killed during the battle, in which she discovers her true love for Rauresu.

Teteiyusu stands by Rauresu's side in order to save him, but he no longer wishes Zadei any ill will. He even decides to sacrifice his life, at a point, to ensure Rauresu and Hilda's safety. Once Zadei is killed, and the monster transformation wears off, he remains by the fallen demon, waiting for him to revive.

Zadei, after being hurt, battled, burn, stabbed, flung, and mangled, returns to his original shape. He is put to 'sleep' in a manner in which he appears dead. He will revive in later ages, and will be pleased to find Teteiyusu by his side.

Kaaron is killed in an encounter with Rodrique. Rodrique, in turn, joins Asbal in his journeys around the world, and seems at peace.

Rauresu kills himself in order to stop Zadei's destruction. His death sends him to the underworld where he is about to be destroyed when Erise's (and Hilda's) presence saves him. He reincarnates and finds Hilda again as the volume ends. Although Higuri doesn't present the moment, the viewer is left with the notion that Hilda is rushing out (when she leaves the tavern where she now dances once more) to find a "man with raven hair."

Opinions

If you are a Zadei fan, this is not the volume for you. Even if he does come out, he spends his time as a monster, and even when he is "dead," he doesn't wake or kiss Teteiyusu. You will be glad to learn that Teteiyusu manages to find love in his heart for Zadei, but there is no substantial romantic scene, if you want one (as we did). Rauresu appears often, the fight scenes are well developed, the evil persons (Kaaron) get what they deserve, and romance and love prevail. It's an interesting read and the pacing, as well as the drama levels, are well plotted. However, if you can't afford all the volumes, you're not missing much without this one. It may sound cruel, but the story had finished long before this volume; it seems 'drawn out' and overly redundant at places. Zadei's story line is not any of these, but may still disappoint those who like his design (and are in love with his eyes or facial expressions).

In Team Bonet's eyes, this is the final volume of Seimaden, and, even though it was much anticipated and longed for, it was somewhat of a disappointment. Why? The art is beautiful and the expressions were still as charming and sad. Still, I think the story got too long and elongated. It got a bit like CLAMP's X, which is too long, and like Yuki Kaori's Angel Sanctuary, which is also too long. Manga should be clear, precise, to the point, and well structured, not just long and long and long. To a point, the story kept making circling dying leaps. For one, tension was low when it concerned Rauresu. We already knew he'd end up with Hilda, so why continue that story line? Higuri should've dedicated more time to Teteiyusu and Zadei, who drew the tension levels to a peak. The manga story sort of wanted to follow Zadei, but the author seemed defiant to go that way. Can you notice this? Also, Kaaron's death was too sudden for all the crimes and pains he caused, and some minor characters such as Maruka and Asbal were ignored a lot. As a whole, it was entertainment, but not worth waiting with such high hopes for months: our manga arrive from Japan and takes 3-4 weeks to arrive. Still, these are our opinions, perhaps you share some others? If so, let us know, and of course, feel free to purchase the volume and enjoy it to the fullest!
