NAME: Saitoh Hajime, 3rd Captain of the Shinsen-Gumi, Mibu's Wolf.
MOTTO: AKU. SOKU. ZAN. (Kill evil swiftly... or more literally, "EVIL. SWIFTLY. SLAY.")
INTRO: Ahhh, Saitoh... our favorite chain-smoking policeman. Saitoh is introduced in the beginning of the Kyoto Arc. He appears as Fujita Goro, a policeman. He is sent to gauge Kenshin's killing reliability, but the two of them get carried away in the fight. They fought once in the Bakumatsu, ten years ago, but the battle ended in a draw. Now, they both strive to finish the fight that began a decade in the past.
FIGHTING STYLE: Saitoh's most infamous sword stance, the gatotsu! A multiple-attack stance designed to skewer the opponent. The gatotsu involves holding the sword in a thrusting position, the power provided by the legs.
WEAPON: A katana. The classic Japanese sword used in the Bakumatsu by most Samurai. "The best sword is the Japanese sword." -Saitoh
