14th April 2000

I was walking in to work today and I saw two white labradors playing with a woman in a park. They were playing grab-the-stick-and-pull and they decided to gang up on the human and were yanking her around the park, and then they got the stick away from her and refused to let go so they were cantering around side by side linked by a stick like packhorses pulling a cart, and I laughed. It was a joy to watch. I love dogs, they're full of joy and exuberance and life, and they're funny. I've read books expounding the merits of cats, their independence and intelligence but give me a dog anyday, I'd rather have a dog acting all silly around me but really being quite smart than a cat pretending to be smart but just being a pompous aloof poseur. It's much the same with people; maybe that's why I'm rather averse to my countrymates. Oh ack he's a traitor string him up and lynch him.

I've finished my oncology firm it's 2 pm and I've got absolutely nothing to do. I've just spent an hour having a warm bath which I usually never have time to (in my head, because in truth medical students have loads of time to do things we're just too stressed out to grab them and do them) and it feels wonderful. I've got the whole weekend to unwind. Amazing.

Had a dream last night about someone I haven't seen in ages, a friend I once had, and in the dream I asked her to forgive me for being the git I once was and the wrongs I'd done her, and I think if memory serves me right she did although rather grudgingly, and I didn't want to ever wake from the dream, but unfortunately I did. This coming from me, who never dreams or rather doesn't remember most of his dreams, and who's far too stable to miss most of the "friends" he once had because he knows they're not going to miss him anyway, and life's really about the present isn't it.

I wish it was a sunny warm afternoon, I'd go out and lie in the grass and sleep, but unfortunately it's cold and thinking of raining, so I guess I'll just surf the web, read my mails and be a boring person. Brilliant :)
