Another one of my infrequent updates. ha! did I catch you by surprise?

This just in. Geisthund is Tired. I think I'm coming down ill with some bug... Okay, but nobody cares... so on to the meat.

I saw a pigeon fighting with a turtle dove yesterday. Actually I was going to post this in an email to someone, but it completely slipped my mind... so I guess I'll have to cut-and paste this for her.

It struck me as odd that a turtle dove, that universal symbol of peace (or is that a different type of dove. but a dove's a dove right? even if they look like giant pigeons) would fall from grace to the extent of quibbling over a tiny scrap of food with a common pigeon. Although, truth be told it was pathetic at fighting, and the pigeon won despite being half it's size. The pigeon wasn't fooled by all it's wing flapping and posturing...

Which brings me indirectly enough, to the gist of this story.

Why do people of today choose the Dark over the Light? Why is it that, more often than not, Good Intentions are perceived as someone being a prissy little goody two shoes, or a meddler with no right to intervene. (Unless, of course said person is stunningly good-looking, in which case all transgressions are forgiven, because maybe, just mabye you'll get a go at shagging her / him - depending on your gender of course. uh and orientation...)  Why do we yen to see people who wear innocent, pretty faces (although possibly with the darkest of hearts) acting out explicitly gory deviant acts? On telly last night - a bizarre show about 2 rather pretty Japanese women (well I think they were pretty : it was hard to tell under the make up) competing with each other  for the title of weatherwoman. Naturally, the majority of the show dealt on sadomasochism, and had the aforementioned ladies tied up practically naked in ropes, suspended from the ceiling, being whipped by their men friends, with the camera panning lovingly over the welts and slash marks on their naked flesh. Rii--ight.

Why do so many people sneer when the word Christian comes up? Sardonic smiles appear suddenly, unbidden tales about rabid Christian nutters trying to forcefully convert the World around them fly to mouths, verbal knives are drawn immediately when the G-- word comes up. Prissy, self-righteous Christians, on their insane jihads to convert everyone into their drones - I've heard it a million times. Goody two religious shoes.

And yet, 2 millenia ago, on this day (symbolically, at least) a man died alone, nailed through his hands and feet to a cross (ouch), yet asking his Father to forgive us all for our sins - a man died to try to ressurrect us from the Bad within us.

And yet, 2 millenia later, it is the Good that is languishing and under assault, and the Bad that we condone in everyday life, and glorify above all other. Bad is quirky and interesting, Dark is fascinating, pain even, it seems, is a turn on. Good? Is boring, is something to be villified.

Bizarre.
