The Punisher says...
Hi there people, um, just like to apologise a little for that little wild rant last week... I do the strangest things when there's a full moon... For those of you who know me, PLEASE stop mailing me to ask me if I'm all right, and no, I do not keep sharp kitchen appliances in my room but thanks for asking. Okay. I've given this page a bit more thought and decided I need a little more consistency in it. Can't keep changing it completely every week, can I? That'd involve... *gasp*... WORK.
So WHO IS this guy ANYWAY?
Oops. Did I forget to say then. Obviously you didn't check this page last week. Okay once more. I'mGEISTHUND and this is my homepage. (Well.. DUH) This is *NOT* a tribute to the PUNISHER® and if you came here hoping for that, GO AWAY and get a life. You should be out there searching for tributes to Vivian Chow and Sandra Bullock. If you're wondering how it is you ended up at the Text Only version that's because you obviously did something very wrong with your browser settings.
All about me
There isn't much to know. Anyway I wouldn't want to bore you with lots of trivial details about my pets and friends and hobbies etc etc etc. I'm a healthy happy 21 year old Singaporean male who just completed National Service and am currently waiting with bated breath to fly off to medical school in London (14th Sep 1997) at the University College of London. Incidentally for all of you out there who know me, I'll be taking this homepage down in September when I terminate my email account with Pacific Internet. I'll send you lot my email address in London when I reach there.
What I look like
My wonderful Friends' homepages :)
Quek Tsui Chiang's page - Check it out! He's got a couple of cool poems he wrote himself... and he's funny too.
Tammy Yap's page - She's small but fierce... don't ever insult her typing speed. Highly recommended recipes on this page.
HoSu-Wen's page - She's not small but she's fierce anyway. Sigh. All my female friends are fierce. :(
Hummer's page - Um no that's not his real name. It's an IRC nickname. This guy's got lotsa really cool links to sites like the Homepage of God and other fun stuff.
Galapogo's Carnasuar page - Another IRC friend with a fetish for dinosaurs.
Today's page is going to be a little different. That's why the sudden deviation from the normal colour scheme.
Jacquelyn Choy, ex National Gymnast came down with leukaemia some time last year. Some of you may remember the article in the newspapers about her. For those of you involved in SRP '93, she was treated by my mentor, Dr Ren Ee Chee. Following a bone marrow transplant, she has recently developed a lung infection and been hospitalised. She is currently in desperate need of platelets from O+ blood-type people to stave it off. The following is extracted from a mass mail that is being circulated about her.
" She needs platelet donors as the doctors want to give her 2 platelet transfusions a day - i.e. she needs 2 donors a day to boost her platelet counts and prevent bleeding in her lungs. She will be most grateful if you can come down to donate your platelets, if you meet the conditions of course, and spread the message around so that other people (e.g. the rest of your ex-classmates/classmates) can come forward too. I do not have their e-mail addresses. But before you do anything, please read the following basic conditions and see whether you meet them. The apheresis unit, where the platelets are extracted, is very sticky in their screening: Potential donors must:
- be between 18 to 45 years of age
- have O+ blood group
- be at least 50kg
- have no history of serious illness (you should also not have had asthma)
- not be on any medication
- have good prominent veins on both arms
If you meet the above conditions, please go down to the Apheresis Unit at SGH Block 7, Level 2 for screening on Mon-Fri: 8am - 3.30pm or Sat: 8am-11.30am. Please say that you are donating for Jacquelyn Choy Wei E. The screening will take a very short time. Later, the hospital will contact the donors who are accepted to arrange for them to return on a specific day to donate their platelets. The procedure to extract the platelets is painless and takes about 2 hours. If you have any queries please call Jackie's mother, Mrs Theresa Choy, at 9665-4451 (HP) or page me at 9708-9829. Thank you very much.

If you have not yet received this e-mail, please cut it out and paste it to your mailer and forward this to as many people as you know. Her low platelet count could imply a negative reaction to the bone marrow transplant. The urgency of this matter cannot be underemphasized.
Some of you may know her sister from the Taiwan Immersion Programme in 1993. She's Marion Choy, and was from NJC. Jacquelyn also happens to be my neighbour. I met her only last year while our mothers were holding an animated discussion about the roses in their gardens. She was quite healthy and vivacious back then, before the leukaemia set in. She's only 20(?) this year. Life can seem so unfair sometimes. I hope those of you who know me or have some personal connection with her family will assist in this matter, be it in donating platelets or forwarding this message, and that you will all spare a prayer for her.
