I Hear Your Pain

I can taste the bitter tears,
Of something I yet cannot understand.
I see the waters swell,
But I can't do anything to get away.
I can hear the crash coming,
Still I won't move.
You're alone,
In some ways.
In others, you are not.
Just let the tears flow,
And the water swell,
And the crash come.
I misunderstood your reason for crying,
But you've made me understand.
I thank you.
You've lived through bitter grief,
And you've shown it to me.
I now know what it is to hurt,
And how to live with the pain.
Thank you, again, my friend,
For teaching me something I need to know.
I'll spread your story,
And I won't change it.
Everyone should feel
The pain and hurt you felt,
And made me feel.
It makes one cry,
It makes one grieve.
You can't help but think
Of all the bitter things.
But then,
Finally at the end,
You taste the sweet,
You hear the wonder,
You understand.
The children laughing
Merrily in the meadow,
Waiting to catch your tears,
Because for them it is rain.
A silver down pour of tears.
The children are your future,
And they are your past.
Do not hide from them,
They'll find you anyway.
Children are always learning,
As you and I.
Tell me once more
Your story,
Because it sounds then
So much more alive to my ears.
You don't have to rhyme it,
Or sing it,
But tell it once more, just plain.
I wish to cry with you,
To once more let out the pain.
To let the children
Gather all your tears
To craft them into joy.
In your voice I hear the hurt
Of having to let go.
I've never had to do it
But because of you I know.
I'll sit beside you
As forever you will grieve.
Don't try to hide it,
Since I think I cry more than you.
You're a touching story
And you I'll never forget.
I'll pass this to my own children
In the meadow and in the real.
I'll tell it to them always
And teach them to tell it too.
Don't be afraid anymore,
I am here.
We are all here,
Listening to you,
Wanting you to share the pain
Because then it is easier to bare.
When you're no longer living
I'll come with you
To make sure that you two meet again
If you haven't already on this plain.
Remember:
Everyone cries;
Everyone suffers;
You just have to share the pain.
