Iroquois men spent much of their time and energy protecting their village and territory , trading for goods, and hunting and fishing. Their most important quarry was the deer , and they needed to shoot one a week to provide sufficient meat for their families.

 deer-

a mammal with antlers (usually just on males) and with  2 large and 2 small hooves on each foot



provide sufficient meat-

to have enough meat to eat



quarry-

animal that is hunted; prey



territory-

area or piece of land



trading-

giving one thing to get another thing in exchange




village-

a place where people live in homes that is smaller than a town
