Choir was founded as a male voice choir by teacher Joseph Zimmermann. The main emphasis of the society's activities: church singing but also secular music, participation in song festivals and performance of musical theatrical works. |
1887 |
For its 10th anniversary, the choir obtained its first society flag.

The 25th anniversary was celebrated with 28 male voice choirs from the surrounding region. |
1924 |
The teacher Martin Denn took over the leadership of the choir from Joseph Zimmermann. |
1927 |
50th anniversary: Church music director Friedrich Becker from Bingen took over leadership of the choir. The choir quickly grew to over 80 men. |
1930 |
A collaboration was formed with the choirs in Bingen, Heidesheim and Waldböckelheim. All choirs were directed by Friedrich Becker. This choral group concentrated on performing cantatas and oratorios. |
1944 |
A women's choir was founded to supplement the men's choir. |
1945 |
The Langenlonsheim mixed choir as it is today was founded. |
1946 |
Friedrich Becker left and was replaced by the teacher Karl Grünewald. |
1948 |
The 21 year-old concertmaster Theo Fischer became MD of the choir which had by this time grown to over 120 members. Professor Theo Fischer expanded the repertoire of the society from spiritual works to choral music from operas, operettas, musicals and films. |
1953 |
A boys choir was founded which was turned into a children’s choir later in the year. This choir continued to exist until 1970. |
1967 |
On the occasion of the choir's 90th anniversary, the choir's name was supplemented by the additional title "Mixed Choir". |
1978 |
The name "Mixed Choir of the Catholic Men’s Singers' Society 1877" was entered in the register of societies. |
1979 |
Joint concert with “Hitchin Thespians” and mixed choir of Bingerbrück in Bingen. |
1980 |
Return visit to Hitchin in Hertfordshire, England. Large joint concert in town hall there. |
1983 |
Start of twinning association with St. Mary’s Singers from Potton, Bedfordshire, England. Large joint concert in the Pieroth Hall. Further twinning concerts followed in Potton (1985, 1990, 1996, 2002) and in Langenlonsheim (1983, 1987, 1993, 1999, 2005). All guests were accommodated privately. |
1993 |
Franz-Josef Staab took over from Theo Fischer as MD. |
1995 |
A new children's choir was founded. The first MD was Dorothea Staab. |
1996 |
Stefan Göth became MD of the mixed choir, Langenlonsheim. The same year he conducted "Carmina Burana" in the Pieroth Hall in Langenlonsheim. Over 900 visitors were present to appreciate this successful concert.
With Stefan Göth, the choir has sung in the cathedrals of Metz, Trier, Luxembourg, Strasbourg and in the abbey church of Maria Laach.

The friends and supporters of the mixed choir Langenlonsheim was founded as a separate society. This society supports the mixed choir financially and organisationally. |
2002 |
The 125th anniversary was celebrated with an exhibition in the Langenlonsheim town hall, a musical brunch in the community hall and a gala concert. |
2003 |
A youth choir was founded at the secondary school. MD was Stefan Göth. |
2005 |
The children’s choir "Kleine Harmonie" celebrated its 10th anniversary with a musical play: "Max and the Cheese Band". MD of the children's and youth choir is Dagmar Roth. |
