‘Abritus’
‘Abritus’ was developed by Dimitar Genchev and Ivan Kiryakov from
DAI-General Toshevo through multiple individual selection in a hybrid population
of a cross between Sataya 425 variety and Trudovets-2, landrace, and a miltiple
individual selection. Its distinguishing traits, erect bush and a suitable pod
position on the plant in high stability of these characteristics, enable for a
direct harvesting with a grain combine equiped by a flexible cutting mechanism.
The seeds are white, unpolished, elliptic in shape and with a 100 seed
weght 20±2
g. They possess a very good taste, a short cooking time and are very suitable
for canning.
Variety
‘Abritus’ is susceptible to bacterial blight (Xanthomonas
campestris pv. phaseoli (Smith)
Dye) and resistant to races 1 and 6 of halo blight (Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola
(Burkh.) Young et al.). ‘Abritus’ is distinguish for a better resistance to
race 130 of the anthracnose (Colletotrichum
lindemuthianum (Sacc. & Magnus) Lams. - Scrib.)
and rust (Uromyces appendiculatus
(Pers.&Pres.)), and its seeds are attacked three time less by the bean
weevil (Acanthoscelides obtectus Say)
compared to ‘Dobroudjanski 7’.
In productivity
‘Abritus’ exceeds the check variety ‘Dobroudjanski 7’ both at DAI - G.
Toshevo and at the State Variety Comission by 16.7% and 4.6%, respectively.
