The new banner campaign is ready. Featuring what appears to be a terrified Gene throwing up his arms in a protective stance. the text reads, "Arghhh! I've been dot com'd!!" Expect to see the new banners rolling across the Internet soon, starting with Link Exchange then moving into wider distribution. The "GeneNash.com" ties in with the new logo on the new site itself. You may notice it is a variation on the 3-d "Gene Nash" text banner Gene made for our site. (I think I like our marble one better. Even though I wouldn't mind it being a little "tighter" like the new one....)
The beginning of March 2000 saw the launch of Gene Nash's newest web site: GeneNash.com which supersedes his previous location on AOL. This will now be the official dissemination point for "all things Nash" on the web. (Remember when the official subhead of the AOL site was "the launch page for all things Nash"? That seems like AGES ago!! Remember when the subhead was "The Man, the Artist, the WebSite" a JOKE noone got? The subhead of the new site remains what the last AOL subhead was: "Enriching your life." Not great but I guess it is functional. Gene's intent seems to be to engage the reader with personal benefits. But who reads titles anyway?)
"We're really excited about the new site," Gene says, "because it allows us to do things we've only dreamed about before." Hopefully that will include the long awaited "member only" section which would house archives of Gene Nash's "real world" work. We know how reluctant he is to throw his oeuvre onto the web at large. He's also mentioned "interactive" features. We can only salivate over the possibilities. :-)~~
The new site will come with a new ad campaign: "I've been Dot Commed!!" complete with appropriate banners. (We'll post one below as soon as they are available.)
Update: I've just seen the new site! And guess what? It uses the "Long Gene" graphic originally made for this site then used on the AOL site! :-) We're kinda an originator! Remember, folks, you saw it here first! :-)
New Book About Gene Nash is Announced
It's been announced there will soon be a new book about Gene! Author Julie Crumbb (sister of Robin Crumbb) is already hard at work on the book tentatively titled "The Wit and Wisdom of Gene Nash." According to the press release, Ms. Crumbb has been given unprecedented access to Gene Nash's works and personal papers. This promises to be the most in depth portrait to date of Gene.
Update: Rumor has it Gene will offer an electronic version of this books as a sign-up premium for his long awaited Member's Only section of his web site! We can hardly wait!!
