Dylan |
The ever self-righteous presence of Captian Dylan Hunt is one his crew may never understand. Born and raised under the great System's Commonwealth, he became a servant of his government in the High Guard (Commonwealth military service). His undying service and acomplishments eventually gave him the honor of flying one of the greatest ships of the High Guard, the Andromeda Assendant. While Dylan may seem a little uptight, when it comes right down to it, he's all heart. I love Sylan Hunt. He's a great assest to the show, and he has a great storyline. Played by the ever-famous Kevin Sorbo, the story right now is that Dylan was a highly respected captian of the Commonwealth. He has many friends and was engaged to a woman named Sara Riely. His best friend Gaheris Rhade (a Nietzshcean) was to be his best man until he betrayed him. Dylan's ship was the first target in the Nietzschean rebellion. Rhade betrayed Dylan leading his ship into the trap. Dylan attempted to escape by ordering the crew to abandon ship and taking the Andromeda into a Black Hole. Unfortunatly, Rhade tried to stop him and Dylan was forced to kill him. Rhade won though, because the distraction caused the ship to become frozen in time on the event horizon of the Black Hole. 300 years later, the salvage ship Eureka Maru pulled the Andromeda free of the black hole. Dylan was revived and after kicking all of they're butts, rescued them and asked him to join his crew. So now it's Dylan Hunt, and his crew of would-be criminals. They're mission, restore the Commonwealth. Well, so far, the new life on the Andromeda, 300 years after they started, all the crew gone except Dylan and Andromeda, the ship's Artificial Intelligence (she is really cool) has been exciting. They're battled killer androids, Nietzscheans, Than, and just about every other bad guy in the galaxy. Dylan is very smart and much of a survivor, but his blind vision often drives the crew crazy. Sara is interesting. I knew from the start that the part would most likely be given to Sam Sorbo (Kevin's wife) because that happened so often in Hercules, but she played the part well in an episode where they were forced to finally say goodbye. (Banks of the Lethe) Dylan and Romme make a good team. There's some tension in teh phisical relationship. Not surprising considering that in her firs appearance as an android she was buck-naked and extremely mad. Then, there's Beka, the small time cargo runner that lead the team that rescued the Andromeda. Her firs order of buisness after joining the crew was to promise she would never, under any cirucumstances call Dylan "Captian." I must say, from that moment on I knew there would be romantic tension between these two, and so far, I think I'm right. Also, I have to talk about Dylan and Tyr. Remember, Dylan was betrayed by a Niet, well, Tyr is not only a Niet, he's a bad one. He is constantly actig as though Dylan means nothing and he could blast the ship apart at any minute and it would make no difference. Will it? We'll see. Okay, most of you all know by now, but I recently had a falling out with Dylan. I don't want to retype all my thoughts here but read the review for The Honey Offering and you'll understand. |
