Erica was born in Great Neck, NY in June, 1979. Her parents, a Social Worker and an Advertising Creative Director, happily conspired to pass on the artistic gene. She learned to sew in middle school, but favored science and math at the public high school from which she graduated in 1997 (though creative aspirations never quite faded). She earned a Bachelors of Arts with a major in Religion and a minor in Psychology from Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH) in 2001. After college she went on to receive a Master of Industrial Design degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. At Pratt, she completed a thesis about sustainable design. She still lives in Brooklyn, where she works as a design consultant while running GenericaNY.
