Coach Mike Woods (Geneseo, 1969) entered the college ranks at Geneseo in 1992, following a brilliant career as the Cross Country and Track coach at York Central High School which included many League and Sectional titles. Woods has a slew of titles in his nine years as the head coach of the Geneseo programs.

Woods has excelled in cross country, where his womens teams have captured seven NYSCTC titles and have made six trips to the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships. On the men's side, Woods led the 1993 and 2000 team to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship.

In addition to the team accomplishments, coach Mike Woods had produced many fine individual athletes. Every year that Woods has coached at Geneseo, at least one of his athletes has made it to a NCAA National Championships. Eight student-athletes have earned 20 All-American certificates during his term, including Beth Shope, who last year claimed the title of Nation Champion in the shot put.

Woods has acquired multiple Coach of the Year awards, including SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 1993 for men's cross country, SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2000 for both men's and women's cross country, and was named Atlantic Region Coach of the Year for women's cross country in 2000.

Woods teaches English at York Central High School.
