This cemetery is unfenced and covers about 5 acres. It
is surrounded by houses and the back of a shopping center. The houses have
fences. The cemetery seems to be well cared for. It is listed in COLLIN COUNTY
CEMETERY INSCRIPTIONS I at the end of the Wylie Cemetery listing under the name
of New Wylie Cemetery. The Wylie and New Wylie Cemeteries are physically two
separate cemeteries.
COLLIN COUNTY CEMETERY INSCRIPTIONS II lists 4 graves for the Kreymer Cemetery.
They said it was started when railroad workers were buried here. According to an
article in the Wylie paper, dated April 27, 1972, this cemetery was started in
October of 1945 by Mary Hughes, daughter of Dr. Kreymer. The same article says
that the cemetery does not have perpetual care. It is cared for by the families
of people buried there. The deed says that this cemetery is "a continuation" of
the Old Wylie Cemetery and is to be known as the North Side Addition of the Old
Wylie Cemetery. The Wylie Cemetery #99, about 1 block further south on 5th
Street, is nearly full. The Kreymer cemetery has been used a lot in recent years
for that reason. It is almost full also.
George C. Hughes married Mary Kreymer, daughter of Dr. G. C. Kreymer. They
donated the land for a cemetery. The deed is listed in Vol 355, p 2, with a plat
map on p 3. The Rand McNally maps call this the Hughes Cemetery. The residents
call it the Kreymer Cemetery or the New Wylie Cemetery. There was a Kreymer
School in this area.
