The Green
Mile

The Green Mile is
a moving account of a prison guard and his relationship with a death
row inmate that takes place in the 1930's. told in flashback, the
story is that of a giant (6' 5" and 315lbs) of a blackman ( Michael
Clarke Duncan) found with two little dead white girls in his arms
mumbling incoherently. Wrongfully accused of murdering the girls, he
is assigned to Death Row to await his death sentence.
While on Death
row, the gentle giant exhibits strange healing powers by curing a
guard (Tom Hanks) of a urinary tract infection by laying hands on him
and drawing out the poison. Throughout his stay on the cell block, he
continues to use his amazing supernatural powers while developing a
relationship with this guard and fellow inmates.
The viewer is
drawn into the lives of the prisoners and guards initiating thought
provoking emotions concering the death penalty.
