..Bean Salad..

I make this and everyone seems to like it. I may not always make it exactly the same way though. I tend to use what I have on hand or what the store happens to have. My brother states only I (me) can take a can of pork n beans and make a gourmet meal out of them.

Van Camp's Pork n Beans
onion chopped
green pepper cut in thin strips from top to bottom of pepper
a touch of Gulden's Mustard, a touch of vinegar..

I try to get this real cold, if you refrigerate overnight the tastes blend. Add any kind of cheese on top cut in small bits just before serving. Swiss is good. I use no measurements. It has always been good. Just don't use those cheap store brands.

Here are a few ideas for slaw. I use my food processor to make slaw. My processor is real old. I make my slaw med fine. I add a bit of Red Wine Vinegar to my mayo. Add crushed pineapple to your mixed slaw. It has to be real cold. You do not want too much. I get a small can and may not use all of it. My sister in law makes her slaw then at the last minute before serving adds grated cheese and Bacos to the top. Again not too much.

The HOLIDAYS and your GENEALOGY. I have one of the books where you write all sorts of information. On some of the pages I figure I will never use I keep track of Holiday gatherings. Even if it is just the year and where you spent it and who was there. I may write down our dinner menu. I have one of those big scrapbooks. I decided I just was not a scrapper. On holidays I have everyone sign their names. I have asked everyone to color a picture too. I ask the kids their favorite color, book, TV show, cartoon. I've done this for over 2 years now and the kids love to look at it when they come.
