Togenkyo used to be a world where humans and demons could live together in peace. But suddenly, the demons have begun attacking humans. The attack is part of an evil plan to revive the Great Evil Phantom, Gyuuma Ou, who has been sealed in a tomb for 500 years. Heaven sends emissary Genjo Sanzo to the far western kingdom of Tenjikukoku with three compainions: Son Goku, Sha Gojyo and Cho Hakkai. The four must prevent Gyuuma Ou from being completely resurrected and find out who is responsible for the evil plan.
This is the best adaptation of Journey to the West I have ever seen. Just check out the characters.
Genjo Sanzo for starters. I mean, is he the sexiest priest I have ever seen or what? Especially when he's in that sexy black outfit underneath that robe. *Drool* He's the very definition of cool and sexy. He has a bad attitude, always moody, swears, smokes, gambles and kills. Basically, everything a normal priest isn't.
Next up, is Sha Gojyo. Now, in other versions he's usually the boring and ugly character (beardy and bald). But this Sha Gojyo defies every rule. He's sexy, flirty and looks nothing like what his character should be.
Now, the one with a major difference is Cho Hakkai. Do we even want to go there? He's meant to be Pigsy but here we have a normal looking guy who's probably the most decent of the lot.
And as for Son Goku, he's pretty much the same being the most powerful but more cuter and has a very big appetite. He's not as cocky as what his character should be. He's the oldest yet the most childlike.
