A Batman Story
By Miss Terry's Kindergarten Class
Hey everybody! :0)
One day during snack time, I was writing down some ideas on a story. One of my students walked over and asked that famous question (as only a kindergartener can):
"Miss Terry, what are you doing?"
"Writing a story," I answered.
"What kind of story?"
"A Batman story."
Several of my students began to beg in chorus, "We want to write a Batman story! Let us write a Batman story!"
So, we started to write a Batman story together. Well, being that sharing is a big part of kindergarten, I've decided to share with you our story. Keep in mind, these are five to six year olds and their view of the world (and superheroes) can be very different from that of an adult! I've written it exactly as I wrote it on the board.
A long, long time ago in the Batcave, Bruce Wayne put on the Batman costume. Then he called Batgirl.
"Let's go find the bad guys," he said.
"Who are we looking for?" Batgirl asked.
Batman answered, "Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and the guy with the white face."
//INTERUPTION: My students discussed in detail exactly who the bad guy with the white face was for real. Here is the argument…
"Who's the guy with the white face?"
"You mean the Joker?"
"Does he have a white face?"
"Yes."
"Is he suppose to be funny?"
"I think so."
"Okay. That's him. Miss Terry, it's the Joker."
Now I will return you to our story :0) //
Batman answered, "Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and the Joker."
"Where are Robin, Supergirl, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Nightwing?" Batgirl asked.
"At home," Batman said.
"Are you going to call them?"
"Yes."
Batman called Robin on a walkie-talkie.
"Robin, I need your help. The Joker, Mr. Freeze, and Poison Ivy are kidnapping teachers from school while the kids are working," Batman said.
"Let's go save the teachers," Robin said.
"Who's with you?" Batman asked.
"Superman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Batwing," Robin answered.
//Interruption: Classroom Conversation
"No Shiquita! Not BAT-wing! It's NIGHT-wing!"
"Nuh-uh! Miss Terry, tell Luke, it's BAT-wing!"
"Actually Shiquita, Nightwing is a superhero. Batwing is Batman's plane. You're both right!"
"Oh, ok. Sorry."
Back to the story…//
"Superman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Nightwing," Robin answered.
"Good! Let's go save the teachers," Batman said.
Batman, Wonder Woman, Nightwing, Robin, Superman, Supergirl, and Batgirl went to the schoolhouse.
Wonder Woman asked the kindergarten kids, "Which teachers are missing?"
"Mr. Jeffrey," Luke said.
"Mrs. Donna," Kailynn said.
"Mrs. Amanda," Kayla said.
"Miss Terry," Kendrell said (with a snicker, I might add!)
"Mrs. Misti," Kaley said.
"Mrs. Stephanie," Yasmine said.
"Who took the teachers?" Batman asked.
"Poison Ivy," Cordric said.
"The Joker," Slater said.
"Mr. Freeze," Katie said.
"What happened?" Batgirl asked.
"They opened the window and tied a rope around Miss Terry. Then they pulled her out the window," Shda said.
"How did they get the other teachers?" Batgirl asked.
"They broke the windows and sneaked in to get them," Daisy said.
"Mr. Jeffrey tried to help the kindergarten teachers and they took him, too," Shea answered.
"Where did the bad guys take the teachers?" Nightwing asked.
"Their house," Jacob answered.
"Where can we find their house?" Superman asked.
"In the woods," Jay said.
"What do you think the bad guys will do to the teachers?" Batgirl asked.
"They might kill them," Shiquita said.
"Or maybe just tie them up and throw them in a big, giant heater," Dusty said.
"Oh no! They might burn up!" John Austin said.
"That would be sad," said Tia' Mara.
"Yeah, that would make me sad, too," said Robin.
Markayla said to Batman, "Please bring the teachers back."
"Okay," Supergirl said.
The superheroes left to go find the bad guys and the teachers.
The superheroes were walking into the woods together.
"Are you scared, Batman?" Nightwing asked.
"No. Are you scared, Nightwing?" Batman asked.
"No, because I'm a superhero," Nightwing answered.
"Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Supergirl, Batgirl, and Superman! Come here!" Wonder Woman yelled.
"What is it, Wonder Woman?" Batman asked.
"I saw all the bad guys," Wonder Woman answered.
"Where did they go?" Batgirl asked.
"They ran to their gray and purple house," Wonder Woman said.
"Let's go get them!" Robin said.
The superheroes ran to the house. Superman looked in the window.
"What do you see?" Supergirl asked.
"I see the bad guys with a bunch of jewelry they stole," Superman answered.
"What about the teachers?" Wonder Woman asked.
"Poison Ivy is going to burn the teachers up," Superman said.
"Oh no! We need to hurry!" Supergirl said.
Batgirl used a pole to break the window and unlock the door. The superheroes went into the house. Nightwing ran after Mr. Freeze. Mr. Freeze shot at Nightwing with his ice gun.
"Nightwing, watch out!" Wonder Woman yelled.
Nightwing jumped out of the way. Then he tied Mr. Freeze up and called the police.
The Joker sent his magic robots after Batman.
//Interruption: We had a vote on what Batman would do. I thought you would find the results very interesting.
7 votes for Batman to scream and run away
10 votes for Batman to stay and fight the robots
We actually had to have a recount :0) Someone claimed to have voted twice. But then we used our math skills and quickly deduced that we had 17 students present today and we had exactly 17 votes. Amazing! :0)
Back to the story…//
The Joker sent his magic robots after Batman. Batman beat up the robots and fought the Joker. Then he chased the Joker out of the house. The Joker fell on the ground and Batman tied him to a tree.
Wonder Woman and Robin went after Poison Ivy and the teachers. Poison Ivy started to put the teachers in the giant heater.
Robin said, "Stop, Poison Ivy!"
Wonder Woman tied up Poison Ivy and put her on a hook. Robin helped the teachers out and told them, "Move out of the way!"
The police came and put the bad guys in jail. Batman took the teachers back to the school in the Batmobile. The students saw all the teachers and ran to hug them.
