As this course is advertised as 'for beginners', this could mean students are beginners in any one, two, or three ways:

• beginner with a computer

• beginner using the Internet

• beginner in genealogy/family history

or any combination of the above!

The course must therefore begin with the very basics of each (in some small way after all we only have 5 weeks!). The first week will therefore out of necessity seem slow to some, but will cater for all students and attempt to get all to the same level ready for a more concerted effort in family history in the following weeks.

Each week's lesson will have a designated web page on this site (see left of screen for links), with references (in the form of hyperlinks) to further study material. All pages will hopefully follow the same format to assist students finding their way around.

It must be emphasised that this is purely my way of teaching the subject and other tutors will have their own (equally good) ideas.
