Solothurn is a city in Switzerland, situated equidistant from Basle,
Berne and Zurich. It is a fine example of "ye olde Switzerland" and features
a number of excellent museums.
The Museum of Natural History is currently staging a Biotek Exhibition
and wished to include a model of a typical dome home. The model is a 1:25
scale model of a 13m diameter 3 frequency oblate ellipsoidal icosahedron,
and while it is not quite what the US dome manufacturers are building (they
build spheroids), it is more like the domes I was building 20 years ago,which
were closer to "typical" than the super-ellipsoids and fragmented
domes which I build now.
