The Holy Spirit at the Second Coming

In our previous issue (please read article) we discussed the role of the Holy Spirit in the Old and New Testament ages (though, not in great detail).

To understand the role of the Holy Spirit at the Second Coming, we must first have a clear knowledge concerning God’s original ideal and purpose for creating man. The Divine Principle explains that “God blessed Adam and Eve(Gen.1:28) to; 1), attain individual perfection. 2), to create a true family and 3), to accomplish dominion over creation as true lords.” These great blessings were to have been accomplished through the working of God's Spirit in man (Adam and Eve). Because the fall took place, God’s Holy Spirit must return on earth through a new Adam and Eve in order to accomplish the above ideal. In addition, fallen humanity has to be regenerated through the Holy Spirit in order to become true citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus, himself, was born of the Holy Spirit and was also filled with the Holy Spirit (Lk.1:35; 4:1). It was an essential part of his mission to receive his Bride (a new Eve), and to baptize fallen humanity with the Holy Spirit, while on earth. Unable to accomplish these two aspects of his mission (while on earth), he told his disciples that God will send “another Paraclete- Comforter/Counselor”, the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit who will accomplish all things (Jn.14:16-17,26; 16: 8,12-14). [Note: The spiritual descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost was "to baptize and empower the disciples to spread the gospel"-Acts 1:5,8.] In essence, this means, that God will send "another adamic figure" (Son of Man)- like Jesus, to fulfill His original purpose and redeem humanity, fully (in spirit and flesh).

Therefore, after Jesus ascended, he revealed clearly to John that “a male child will be born, on earth. He will be exalted to God's throne and will rule as the (new) Messiah” (Rev.12:5). He is the one who will overcome and be qualified to receive all the messianic qualities of Jesus (2:26-28; 2:17; 3:12,21; 19:11-15).

The Second Coming of the Lord and his Bride (19:7) will therefore be the coming of the fullness of the Holy Spirit on earth. In this manner, God will restore His new Adam and Eve, and in so doing, accomplish His original purpose: the Kingdom of Heaven on earth and in Heaven (12:10; 21:1).

The Second Coming

(Cont'd from Pg.1)

1) The Gospel has already reached all nations of the world.

2) The nation of Israel has already been re-established (since 1948).

3) The major World Wars (I, II, Cold War) have been concluded.

4) Major natural calamities are climaxing in our time.

5) The Kingdom of God is being proclaimed by the "True Parents," Reverend and Mrs. Moon. All are being called to participate in the Holy Marriage Blessing; the salvific "Marriage Supper of the Lamb" described in Revelation 19:9.

This is the special condition for being able to restore our original nature so that we are able to fulfill the three great blessings given by God (Gen.1:28). On accomplishing God's ideal, we are able to become true citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Two Kinds of Prophecies Concerning the Messiah
The Bible shows two types of prophecies concerning the mission of the Messiah, or of anyone sent by God: 1) If the central figure sent by God is received by the people, and he himself, is faithful before God, then God’s purpose for sending that particular person is able to be fulfilled. (examples: Jacob, Joshua and David).

2) If the central person sent by God is rejected by the people, and /or he lacks the faith to accomplish the mission, then there is failure in the providence and the mission has to pass on to another, at a later time. (examples: Moses and Elijah). The prophecies concerning the Messiah (anointed one), in the Old Testament, were predominantly victorious (Is.9:6-7; 11; 60, and others). And, in the New Testament, prior to Jesus' birth, Lk.1:31-33, is a victorious prophecy of the regal Lord over Israel- one whose Kingdom has no end. The "Suffering Servant" prophecy of Isaiah. 53 is based on the condition of the people rejecting the Messiah. That is, "if they do not believe in him, they will inflict suffering on him." The prophet said: “They did not believe his report (his message) ….They despised and rejected him….“ (vs. 1, 3).

Had the Jews showed faith and believed in Jesus, as the promised Messiah, they would not have had him crucified. Jesus would then have the foundation of acceptability to fulfill each step of his messianic responsibility: his royal marriage (Ps.45), kingship over Israel (Lk.1:32-33), and the Kingdom of God on Earth.(Ps.22:27)

Family is Forever Corner

How should a father be? He should be the best friend among friends. When a father appears, his son should jump to him, even abandoning his friends. A father should also be the teacher of teachers. And then he should be the center of heart.

A father should be considered the one next to God and the one surpassing the president. Children should think of their father as their best friend and best teacher whom they would never exchange with any other friend or teacher.

They should be able to say, "I would rather abandon my loving wife than abandon my father." Inspiration by Rev. Moon. (BaIF576)
