Story:
Well, I've got to say this story is really getting a little bit girlie. In this issue, Promethea goes back to the hospital to check up on the former Promethea (the widow of the last author), she was hurt in the battle in ish #1 with the Smee. Anyhow, she acts like a bit of a mentor for our girl and tells her how she can travel to Immateria so that she might save her friend Stacia who was lost into the vortex at the end of the last issue. Anyhow, that aside, Promethea travels to Immateria, or as the characters seem to prefer to call it, Misty Magic Land. honestly, could they have thought of a lamer name??? Oh well, so Promethea goes there and is faced with the magical imaginings of all time. This place is basically the same kind of world as seen in The Neverending Story. Promethea must find and rescue her friend from this world. But on the way she'll have to face the terror of all terrors, the Big Bad Wolf. Yup, that's right, the fairy tale character come to life. And even though she might have the help of an uzi toting red riding hood, I just can't get all that jazzed up about a storybook villain. Ah well, whatever, you can't win em all.
Well, the name says it all, The Big Bad Wolf. He's a little bit bigger and meaner than I seem to remember, but still, I really can't make myself all that scared by this guy. Maybe that's because all the fairy tales end with the wolf defeated. I kind of see that as a fatal flaw in him as a baddie; he's destined to fail, no matter how scary or big he is. Anyways, he might be fun and all, but I'd really prefer a badguy with more depth.
I think I might be getting a bit jaded here. The premise is starting to annoy me a bit. This whole Misty Magic land thing is a bit much for me. Maybe I'm just closed minded; or too much of a boy, but I can't get myself into something so cheesy. Then again, maybe I'll get over it. I'm also starting to doubt whether this comic is really aimed at guys or girls. Maybe I'm just an idiot and have stumbled into some My Little Pony reject...
