Aftermath

Well, its been a few days that I’ve been back now, and I’ve just finished transcribing my paper journal into a word document. Hopefully by tomorrow I can get this posted online for everyone to read. But my journal ended there with that last entry. Everything else with the trip worked out ok, we didn’t have very good luck on our last travel day. It really seemed like everyone we met was out to screw us over, and we got into a number of arguments with people over prices and hassles, but at least we’re back now. The trip was great, an amazing experience that I’m really grateful to have had the opportunity to enjoy. Tim and I have settled back into life in Kombo, such as it is. And Joe has headed back upcountry to Salakinny (sp?). Travelling was a really good way for me to clear my head and get some perspective on my time here. If I’ve learned anything about my life right now from this break time, its that I’ve been wasting a lot of time here in Gambia. If you’ve been reading either of my other online journals you might know that I’ve been pretty frustrated by my work here in Gambia. Things aren’t going as quickly or as well as they should; but that’s how things work. I’m not going to stress about it anymore, but I am going to do something. I’m leaving Gambia pretty soon. In 7 or 8 weeks in fact. Until that time I’d like to actually try to get some things accomplished. I know things aren’t perfect here, I know they’re not perfect back in The States or Canada, but I know I can do things that are right for me so long as I try a little more. The Mali trip was a lo of fun. I got to spend some good times with some great people. No one was seriously ill, we hardly even fought, and I started to think about things again. Travelling is important to me, it gives me a chance to reassess, to think, and to hopefully grow. So until the next adventure, Peace everyone, and thanks for reading.
