Nerd Books

Order TCP/IP Illustrated Today!
A Great book Teaches Oodles about TCP/IP. A must for network admins, or the plain curious. If you don't know what TCP/IP is, it's baseicly what makes the internet work. It's the base for all the common protocols -- FTP, HTTP, Telnet, etc.

Order The Cuckoo's Egg Today!
It's about and written by a guy at Berkely (Cliff Stoll), who was trying to find out why there was a tiny error in the computer's accounting system. He ended up discovering a hacker, and the chase was quite exciting. This book is one of my all time favorites. It even has a great receipe for choclate chip cookies! (No Kidding)

Order Cyberpunk Today!
This book has 3 sections; One about One about Robert Morris(Creater of the great 'net worm), Kevin Mitnick(tho he's portrayed unfairly), and the Chaos Computer Club. It's an overall good book, and very interesting.

Order Masters of Deception Today!
About the cybergang MOD(Masters of Deception, but also known as Mothers on Drugs, etc... :), how they worked and what they did. They broke in into then hi-tech VAXen using low tech equipment such as Commadore 64's. MOD disagrees with a lot of the book, though....

Order The Fugitive Game Today!
A Great book by Jon Littman, Kevin Mitnick called the author and talked to him over the course of a few months. This book is particullary good because it portrays Kevin in the truest sense. If you want to know the true story behind the mitnick case, this is where to start. Or check out www.freekevin.com.

Order The Watchman Today!
Another fine Littman book, much like The Fugitive Game. It tells the true story of Hacker Kevin Poulsen.

Order Silicon Snake Oil Today!
Another excellent book by Cliff Stoll. In this book he looks at what the Internet really is now, aside from all the hype and high hopes, and asks some down to earth questions about how we as users want the future of electronic communications to unfold.

Order The New Hacker's Dictionary Today!
In the 50's at MIT, there were a group of people that referred to themselfs as, 'hackers.' If you could write the best, most efficent program, you had a right to call yourself a hacker too. They, in their efficent manner, devolped a jargon of their own. This book is a reference to it.

Order Wyrm Today!
This book is probably my favorite. It's the kind of book where I'm recommending it to my friends weeks after I finished it and read over and over again. It has a little of everything, but it's baseicly on a computer program that gains sentinence, and sets it up so the world _REALLY_ will end on Jan 1., 2000.....This is probably the cheapest book here too. Get it -- If not from my store borrow it and read it.
