The automobile production in the European Union during the period 1995-2001, shows an overall trend of increase. This is observed for almost all categories, although for passenger cars there is a quite stable performance over time from the European car companies.
The flourishing car sales can be interpretated as a gradually increasing need for means of transport either in the European countries or all over the world, as great part of the European automobile production is exported in countries out of European Union. For some countries like Germany, the profits from car sales appear to be the most significant contribution in the economic structure.
