Welcome to PicketFence

Thank you for your interest in the PicketFence Community Leader volunteer network. PicketFence provides a warm, friendly atmosphere where homesteaders can receive a wide range of help from volunteers who are knowledgable in many areas of web developement.

As a Community Leader, you will ...

  • be representing the neighborhood PicketFence and its Suburbs. Your homestead will be an example of a site developed within the theme of "home improvement". It should not contain any content violations.

  • conduct yourself in a professional manner while providing help to fellow homesteaders. You will see content within Yahoo!Geocities that might anger you. Level headedness and a tactful approach in addressing these issues is a must.

  • participate in fun committees for contests, holiday activities, graphics and much more. Plus developing fun contests and activities for our neighborhood.

  • recognize neat sites for the awards, and other featured programs.

  • help answer questions and solving problems which comes in the form of email, on the message boards, in the chat help forum, and in the topic club.

  • report content violations to PicketFence representatives and ALERT that do not comply with the Yahoo!Geocities Content Guidelines.

To become a Community Leader, you must...

  • be an established homesteader in one of the PicketFence communities. One month residency is the minimum requirement.

  • have good HTML knowledge. We will not be able to train you on HTML and you will be answering a lot of HTML questions.

  • know your way around Yahoo!Geocities and be familiar with the Yahoo!Geocities utilities.

  • be in complete compliance with the Content Guidelines. We strongly urge you to have the GeoGuide on at least your index.html page.

  • have the willingness to help and have good communication skills.

  • your homestead page must fit the PicketFence theme and be well developed site. This means the site should have at least 3 pages and the links are working.
