The Apple LCIII uses a 25MHz
68030 processor and other Macs come with 68040s operating at various speeds
Due to an improved design, a 25Mhz 60840 is about twice as fast as an 68020.
Newer developments are in PowerPC technology. Working in co-operation with Apple and IBM, Motorola has produced the RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) chip. This is what is in the PowerMacs today.
