Fossils produced by stony algae, the Stromatolites are some of the oldest fossils found. Found in concretions from 1 inch to several feet, this concretion is about 6 inches across. It has also been sawn in half and polished to show the layered structure of this ancient plant. Also, algae structures similar to this can still be found today in warm, shallow seas.
