Association Slab AS1 | ||||||||||
Era: Paleozoic Epoch: Ordovician Age: 425 ~ 500 Million Years Old Name: Association Slab AS1 Species: Trilobite Molts: Cryptolithus Teesellatus Flexicalymene Meeki also present: Bryozoans Crinoids Merocrinus Location: Kope Formation Cincinatti, Oh. USA At first site these association slabs apear nothing more than a piece of thin rock with a few shells and other items in them. But after I got them under some good daylight with a magnifying glass, I was amazed in the amount of various ancient lifeforms you can discover. This is actually a piece of the bottom of an ancient sea floor that is frozen in time. It contains hundreds of pieces of trilobite molts (they molted as they grew, much as crabs do), Crinoid sections, and other life forms I have no clue what they were. I tried to scan some close ups and post them below so you can see more detail. |
