Dark Refrains

Georgina Hannah Ormrod

Trapped

Trapped between two worlds,
One of perpetual light with coloured clouds,
The other of vulgar darkness and blood red rain.
My head’s still spinning from the magic-carpet ride,
It would have been fine, but for the shooting stars.
I’ve been desperately searching for a way back to the violent life,
But I’m stuck in this two sided conscience.
There’s a sea of blackness freezing my toes
And heavenly clouds surrounding my mind
With my body being plagued by both.
Angels’ songs are flooding my ears
And devils’ coals burn my feet’s soles.
This strangeness turns my spirit into sparkling dust
Floating off into a celestial blackness.
But the emptiness before my eyes has distorted the view,
So I’ll carry on searching for that violent life
Outside of my conscious.
