Special To MeNext PoemYou’re like a rose, all prickly- covered in thorns,
But you’re beautiful,
a beauty that cannot be compared to anything else.
You’re like an ivy plant;
you grow over everyone and adorn them,
But you pull and grow
and you widen a rift between us all,
You cover us and smother us so you can grow strong.
You’re like a night-shade, dark and mysterious,
Growing well amongst beauty and hate,
But you hide your poisons with your charm.
You’re a weed thriving off all of us, draining us.
But you are special to me.
I see the rose, a wall with a climber,
A flower of the woods,
And you’ll always be special to me.        © 15/7/1997
