Dark Refrains

Georgina Hannah Ormrod

Shadows Undulate

The smouldering embers of summer burn out,
The world’s shadows lay undulate before my eyes,
Cold, gentle starlight pours down from the sky,
But my love for you shines and glows even more.

The velvet sea shrinks away from the shore,
Swirling mists float on its waves,
The blackness covers the whole of the world,
But the colours sparkle in my eyes
As my love for you warms the view of our world.

Winter has swallowed the warmth and the light,
Yet I melt into you with desire and delight,
Our souls are ablaze in this desolate time
And my love for you smoulders
In the shadows undulate.
