Fatal AddictionNext PoemYour clung like a lover,
Entwined around my flowing body.
You could not resist the fatal addiction,
I did not persist, but you missed the deception.
You are consumed by love’s inextinguishable flames,
They swallow and smother you
to blacken your soul.
Your joy is intensely lighted,
Illuminated from fires within
Unaware that your dreams wither, burn and blister
Melting until they are gone.
I did not persist with my fatal addiction,
But you could not resist
The fires of deception.       © 14/3/99
