Dark Refrains Georgina Hannah Ormrod

Dark Refrains

Georgina Hannah Ormrod

I sit in the penumbra cast from
the lachrymal at my tomb,
The vessel whose lamenting
contents spill out over the world.
I have left my temporal form to be reborn in the stars.
To shine anew in another ephemeral eternity
Where the inanity of life is but
an irrelevant flaw in the infinity of time.
My body will be reincarnated for ever more
But my soul will remain entwined
in the fabric of the universe.
So here I am trapped, in the vacuum of my mind
With no dreams left to follow
Or any drop of nepenthe to ease this affliction.
Until the end of time is a long while to be
haunted by regret and be plagued by jealousy.
You with life can still fill it with desires
Whilst I can only peer at a
vista of what might have been.
